The Institute for Teaching God’s Word Theological Seminary was founded by a vision to Dr. Brooks in 1985, at the location where he attended elementary school.  The property was purchased by Dr. and Mrs. Brooks and donated for the Institute’s beginning.

We chose the name “The Institute for Teaching God’s Word” to denote our purpose.  In 1986, $14,000.00 was donated, and New Jerusalem Christian Center was conceived.  In 2004 New Jerusalem had a name change to New Jerusalem Interdenominational Church.   Its purpose was to serve as a chapel for all students who attend the Institute, as well as for those who were looking for a teaching ministry.  All extension classes and seminary classes were held in this facility.   In 2000 we moved into our new facility, this building has five classrooms and a chapel that will seat 200 people.

Our first Commencement exercises were held on June 30, 1991.  There were eight graduates and two honorees. On June 28, 1992; twenty-six (26) graduates and two (2) honorees would participate in the second commencement.  The honorees were recognized for 40 years of faithful service. The graduates gathered from across the United States.  One from Washington State, six from Temple, TX., two from N.C., one from Long Beach, CA., one from Dallas, and 15 interns.

Dr. Brooks was instructed by the Spirit to develop accelerated classes for the Institute in 1996 along with our two year program.  Today the school operates in this fashion and students from across the United States continue to benefit from this design.   We also have plans to offer eClass courses for those students who can not attend classes on a weekly and monthly basis.
